Annotation	The article considers the most important historical milestones in investigating (national) stereotypes: from the first attempt to introduce them into social psychology to the results of their research by other humanities, by philology and pedagogics in particular. The author presents the stereotype as a universal and many-sided phenomenon and postulates the necessity to intensify interdisciplinary coordination in its further research.
