Annotation At the present stage of development of philosophy, the problem of methodology of cultural heritage interpretation is of particular importance. For several centuries, the leading method of interpreting semiotic systems has been the hermeneutical method, which originally arose as a scheme for interpreting sacred texts. Interpretation of cultural values and cultural heritage is one of the most common types of their development and creative understanding. From the point of view of perception and interpretation of language, which is any system of symbols in the general sense, the main scientific direction is philosophical hermeneutics. The very concept of hermeneutics is usually interpreted as an art and theory of text interpretation. Hence, in a broad sense, it arose with the advent of speech and writing. Hermeneutics served to create a method of interpretation. Therefore, many of its provisions take into account the specifics of the interpretation of cultural values. The author considers and analyzes the works of the largest Russian philosophers and cultural scientists who developed the problem of perception and interpretation of cultural heritage. The works by P. A. Florensky, S. L. Frank, M. M. Bakhtin, A. V. Shtoff, S. N. Bulgakov, G. G. Shpet and others were noted, reviewed and analyzed among the Russian philosophers who made a significant contribution to the formation of the theory of knowledge and perception. Based on the results of the analysis, a conclusion is made about the major contribution of Russian philosophers to the development of the hermeneutical approach to the study of cultural heritage. Today, the tools and terminology of science have been developed, and the complexes of concepts related to the subject, object and subject, the main categories and processes of interpretation have been clarified.
