Annotation The article presents M. P. Mindarovsky’s memoirs about the city of Yeniseisk and its inhabitants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Mikhail Prokopievich Mindarovsky was one of the participants of the local history movement, who served a significant part of his life in the city government. In broad circles, he was known as a correspondent of Siberian newspapers and the author of numerous works on the problems of developing the Siberian region. M. P. Mindarovsky’s memories about the city of Yeniseisk covered the period from 1890 to 1916. This source intertwined autobiographical memories and diary entries. The bases of the memoirs were the issues discussed at the meetings of the City Duma. The memoirist touched upon the issues of improvement, education and culture in the city. The main problem for the development of urban infrastructure was the deficit of the city budget. M. P. Mindarovsky drew attention to the dependence of the economy of the region on the development of the gold industry. The diary presents the social and psychological portraits of urban residents. This source is a reflection of the daily life of the provincial city in the modernization period. Its use will allow us to examine in detail the processes that took place in this period in the history of Siberian society.
