Annotation The article deals with S. Kierkegaard’s views in their connection with modern post-cultural reality. Methodology includes comparative analysis, hermeneutic method and generalization. The author notes the reception features of Kierkegaard’s works by the Russian existentialists – L. Shestov and N. Berdyaev. The purpose of this research is to show that the Danish philosopher’s existential search is not in demonic opposition to culture, but represents the aspiration of an idividual, thrown out from a “cozy” cultural context, to build up the responsible relationship with God and the world. The article reveals that Kierkegaard’s interpretation of faith as paradox sets a special paradigm of the religious choice, way of faith and considers the concepts of “singularity”, “thoughtless haste” as crusial for the cultural crisis understanding by the Danish philosopher. The author shows that the post-cultural reality provokes the “aesthetic” life-scenario choice. In any attempts of “self-construction” modern man appears “in private” with the world and God, without having initial experience of a deep inclusiveness in any community. Therefore, Kierkegaard with his philosophy of “despair”, “individual choice”, “singularity’, “personal responsibility” is surprisingly modern. His works remind us of the need for serious existential philosophizing and attempts of overcoming thoughtless haste as a moral task.
Key words singularity, individual choice, post-cultural reality, thoughtless haste, paradox of faith, life-scenario, existential search
