Annotation The article addresses the problem of addictive behavior. It examines the role of anxiety as a risk factor and the protection from adolescents’ addictive behavior. It presents comparative results of an empirical study of the anxiety levels of the adolescents who are at risk of computer game addiction, and the adolescents who do not have behavioral problems. The adolescents who are at risk of computer game addiction, show high and low levels of anxiety, and the adolescents who do not have behavioral problems, demonstrate an average (optimal) level of anxiety. The high and low anxiety levels increase the risk of addiction. The optimal level of adolescents’ anxiety is a protective personal coping resource.
