Annotation The article gives a detailed analysis of the first part of the chapter «About miracles» from «An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding» by D. Hume. Specificity of his views on miracles embodied in their organic ambiguity is revealed. The circumstances confirming this conclusion are described: Hume decided to clear people’s minds concerning miracles from «superstitious errors»; Hume didn’t doubt the truth of the Holy Scripture miracles; his central idea was to prove authenticity of testimonies about miracles.
