Annotation	The paper examines the system of text comprehension techniques elaborated in the rhetorical and hermeneutical approach to the text and discusses the techniques of analyzing implications, the techniques of the standard and the new, meaning transfer, axiological assessment, genre individualization, meaning elucidation, search for artistic values, etc. Lingvodidactically, the paper raises a question about the competences of an active reader – highly developed linguistic personality.
