Annotation The paper presents the analysis of the book Portage by M. Vilk. We consider the linguistic units that structure the peasant variant of Russian speech, particularly the names of specific realities of life and nature, folk terminology, residuals from the sphere of folklore and superstitions. The author emphasizes that the use of live traditional speech markers is subjected to two strategies of text generation: 1) ensuring the global coherence of the text and updating different components of its semantic structure, and 2) the use of a direct interaction at the level of local text coherence.
