Annotation	The article is devoted to the study of two Mongolian laws in the field of family law: the Family Code of 1973 and the Family Law of 1999. The relevance of the topic is undeniable. Healthy and full of family at all times is an important condition for a peaceful and stable development of the society and the state. Both Mongolian laws reflect the nature of state policy regarding the institution of the family at different stages of the country’s development. Mongolian family laws in the socialist and post-socialist periods were analyzed. Chronological and comparative-historical research methods were applied. The author concludes that the Mongolian family law was formed on the basis of the needs of social and state development. The Family Code of 1973 continued the state policy to provide women with equal rights and opportunities in the family sphere. Protection of motherhood and childhood was carried out by the state. The family played an important role in the spread of communist ideology. The Family Law of 1999 largely preserved the features of socialist law. At the same time, new articles were introduced that met the requirements of the new era. Definitions are given of the basic concepts used in the law. The article was about the need for medical examination for pairs getting married. The innovation was the possibility of concluding a marriage contract between spouses, regulating property relations. Regulation and development of family law in modern Mongolia continues to reflect the changes of the family structure, family and social values.
