| Annotation | The collection of articles “Language as It Is” covers a wide range of issues related to the development of intercultural and scientific cooperation in the field of modern philological research, dissemination of the Russian language and knowledge about national culture and literature in Russia and the world. It notes new linguistic experiments, institutionally generalizes questions of Russian languages, reflecting the diversity of modern studies on typology of linguistics. The collection of articles is built around empirical problems and theoretical solutions, on which the director of the Institute of Linguistics A. A. Kibrik worked, and the book itself is the result of joint efforts of his colleagues and friends from two organizations, with which he connected his life, i. e. the Institute of Linguistics (Russian Academy of Sciences) and Lomonosov Moscow State University. Andrey Aleksandrovich Kibrik, director of the Institute of Linguistics (Russian Academy of Sciences) and professor of theoretical and applied linguistics at the Faculty of Philology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, turned 60. This collection of short articles is dedicated to this date. The cognitive approach to language in the collection reflects, on the one hand, a vast empirical area considering language in a series of cognitive systems, and on the other – a system of theoretical views. Understanding the language structure is impossible without looking at information on these systems. The aim of the review is to show the marginality of critical division of linguistics, to summarize the problems of language correspondence, to systematize the variety of experiments related to discourse analysis, to demonstrate the application of methods of corpus linguistics. The theoretical significance is that the collection covers a number of experiments on corpus linguistics in the conditions of intercultural cooperation, summarizes the typology of discourse. The collection of articles provides the reader with new scientific literature reflecting modern practices in forming a unified space of linguistics of the XXI century. Thanks to the interaction of two professional pictures on corpus linguistics, a cognitive linguistic environment has been formed on the pages of the collection. The practical significance of the collection is that the facts and observations presented in it typify the descriptions of the research of corpus linguistics. Its 78 articles cover discursive analysis, linguistic diversity, cognitive language approach, sociolinguistics and many other theoretical and empirical aspects of natural language learning. |
