Annotation For the first time in Udmurt linguistics, the book examines cultural codes. The cultural code defines a set of images that is associated with a set of stereotypes in the mind. As a rule, it is hidden from understanding and is not clearly realized, but it manifests itself in actions. The unique cultural features inherited from our ancestors contain encoded information that allows us to identify culture, helps us understand the nation’s behavioral reactions, and defines folk psychology. The basis of cultural codes is mythological symbolism. The subject of the study was the astronomical, phytomorphic and zoomorphic codes. This choice is associated with the high frequency of their use. The language units and selected verbal texts contain images of astronyms, phytonyms, zoonyms, ornithonyms, ichthyonyms, and insectoids in Udmurt linguoculture. The research revealed national-specific realities, their conceptual and semiotic content. This monograph begins a series of works devoted to the codes of Udmurt culture. It is addressed to linguists, cultural scientists, literary critics, philosophers, students, as well as anyone interested in the Udmurt language, culture, and ethnopsychology.
