| Annotation | The article reveals the little-known history of Plant no.117 and defines its significance in the history of the Transbaikal rear. The article is based on the methodology of microhistorical description. It was chosen as the research object and helped to identify archival sources that made it possible to describe the activities of the plant from the point of view of the daily life of plant workers, and to reveal the stable manifestation of their patriotism. The historical context was of fundamental importance in writing the article: examining the emergence of the plant in light of the growing security threats to the country’s Transbaikal borders before the war and highlighting its activities in conjunction with existing enterprises in Eastern Siberia and the Far East. The party-political factor in the emergence and operation of the plant is shown as an essential element in the management of the production team. Factory management was characterized by party-administrative leadership, based primarily on the principles of persuasion and voluntariness within the framework of strict centralization. The achievements of the plant’s production activities coincide with the main stages of the Great Patriotic War. In December 1941, its production activities began, in the fourth quarter of 1942, the second stage of the plant was put into operation, and in 1943, the plant fully mastered the production of defense products. As a result, it was prepared for production activities as party of the Moscow aircraft plant for the serial production of Tu-2 frontline bombers. After the evacuation, Chita State All-Union Electromechanical Plant was established at its production sites in 1944. The creation of two factories was a major contribution of the Transbaikal rear to the victory of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. The experience of a microhistorical description of Plant no. 117 using Archival documents of industrial and socio-political origin can become one of the ways to develop the history of the Transbaikal rear during the Great Patriotic War. It is important that the documents reflect the daily work routine of the enterprise’s employees and its relationships with other participants in the historical process. |
