Annotation Nowadays the globalized world witnesses not only informational exchange in various spheres including cultural but also an ever-increasing interest towards national culture and its “export”. Thus, Russia is actively popularizing heritage of local artists of the 20th century, who worked in the era of major social upheavals. Many cultural facts dating back to the 1920s-1960s become true discoveries for modern specialists. However, names of Russian artists after the avant-garde epoch remain largely unknown to the general public. The article underlines the importance of analyzing popularization of a certain culture and its heritage both culturally and philosophically, as well as studying the processes of popularization and its means and methods in the modern world. The fine arts of the 1920s-1930s serve as a case study. The focus on the less known facts of the Russian culture of recent past can help reconsider Russia’s role in the culture of the 20th century and promote a positive image of Russia’s national identity abroad.
Key words translation, “soft power”, globalization, fine arts, social communication, avant-garde art, image of Russia
