Annotation In the paper, history of one of the largest monastic complexes of Inner Mongolia – monastery Badgar is examined for the first time. Many priests – Buddhist monks of Mongolia and Buryatia studied and were trained on Buddhist Sciences in educational faculties of this monastery. Studying of the history and functioning of this monastery reveals the fact of existence of close relationship between the Buddhist centers of Tibet, Mongolia and Buryatia. This monastery played an important role in the development and formation of philosophical education in Mongolian Buddhism; it has been an important link in the dissemination of Tibetan Buddhist culture. The internal organization of the monastery, starting with religious services and sermons, arrangement of the monastic life and finishing with the architecture of the temples and buildings were founded according to the model of the Tibetan Braibung monastery. The magnificence of the buildings and of the interior of the complex, as well as the history of reincarnations of the monastery demonstrate the fact that it was considerably supported by benefactors and donators, that is a vivid indicator of the importance of the Buddhist ideas for the Mongolian world and of a role of this monastery in the life of the people. On the basis of studying of the biography of the founder of the monastery of a Duinkhor khutukhta, the pupil of Dolonnor Ganjurva gegen, relationship between the teacher and pupil is considered, and the role of a personality in distribution of Buddhism is shown. The article also briefly describes the current situation in Badgar, the restoration processes of the monastic complex and the revival of religious practices within the walls of Badgar.
