Annotation The relevance of the food criticism representation study on the gastronomic magazines pages is due to the coexistence of the concepts of food and restaurant in the periodical press. This trend is particularly large in gastronomic magazines. Restaurant criticism being a way of analyzing and bipolar estimation of a place of public catering has genre and language features of representation. The aim of the study is to identify and generalize them. Food criticism responds to trends in the development of modern print media related to socio-cultural evolution and the dominance of the recreational principle. It is emphasized that this part of journalistic practice gradually acquires features of an independent type of creative activity and the way of its representation is coordinated with the typological characteristics of the publication. This thesis is confirmed by the study of the material from the magazine Gastronom. During the analysis of media texts of restaurant orientation, the materials in which the restaurant is only mentioned are studied, as well as the publications that relate to the texts of restaurant criticism, genre definition of publications and their systematization in accordance with thematic division of the journal are given, the language features of media texts are studied. In addition, the article determines the prospects for further study of restaurant criticism in the periodical press. This work is based on fundamental research in the field of linguistics, culturology, works on the theory of journalism and mass communications.
