Annotation	The purpose of the article is a historiographical analysis of the works of modern scientists on the geological study of the Russia’s North East. It was in the period of the1920s–1960s. The most significant discoveries were made, which glorified Golden Kolyma and Golden Chukotka. The process of accumulation of geological knowledge led to the emergence of the North East units of academic science. In the historiography of the development of geological research of the Russia’s North East, two periods are distinguished. The Soviet period dating from the 1920–1980s and the modern period which covers the 1990s–2010s. Historical works of the Soviet period are thought to be quite studied. The modern historiography of the considered problem needs a deeper understanding. The author comes to the conclusion that modern historiography of the history of the geological research of the Russia’s North East in the 1920s-1960s is represented by a significant number of various works of historians and geologists of the region. Extensive factual material was introduced. There are analytical works on the problem of the initial period of the geological studies of the region (late 1920s – early 1930s), the activities of geologists of Dalstroi in the 1930s through the 1950s, repression of geologists, the work of geologists in the years of the Great Patriotic War, the discovery of uranium deposits in the region, the postwar crisis in geology, the discovery of gold in Chukotka, the formation of scientific-geological units in the region. However, there have been no generalizing monographic studies on this topic, the creation of which is an urgent task.
