Annotation The article deals with the method of etymology of ethnonimic proper name Mongol. The conceptual semantic of ethnonimic name is revealed through introduction of a new term onomaconcept and its structural analysis. Onomaconcept as a type of linguacultural concept is able to depict pre-ethnonimic as well as the proper-ethnonimic meaning of the onoma analyzed. First, the reconstruction of a conceptual semantic field of ethnonimic name by onoma and conceptual analysis let us to suppose the etymology of the name. Secondly, this method gives the possibility to model the conceptual sphere of nomadic mentality. The method of scientific investigation of onomaconcept is based on methods of conceptual analysis; component-analysis in order to know well all word definitions of the concept; onoma method depicting ethno-cultural and ethno-historical background of the analyzed concept; method of semasiological analysis and others. Complex analysis of propriety lexicon makes it possible to reconstruct the system of archaic mental orientations, reflexes, and the mentality of middle-aged nomads. Lingua-cultural description of nomadic picture of life makes possible the reconstruction on early nomadic period, especially the period of foundation of the Altaic languages. Conceptual description of ethnonimic names on the basis of typology of non-related languages promoted thesis of similar linguistic correlations of different languages – Mongol and Samoedic ones.
