| Annotation | The article focuses on identifying the changes and functioning of the virtual narrative chronotope in the modern world, based on virtual narrative computer games. Virtual narrative is a special dimension of virtual reality. It reflects the real time and space, on the one hand, and is structurally connected to them, on the other hand. However, time and space in a virtual narrative are not always combined with these categories in the real world. Virtual narrative may narrate also about the future or the past, the action may take place in imaginary worlds, or in the past of our world. Modern virtual narrative is a complex, syncretic phenomenon, containing references to different cultural, historical and even mythological subjects and objects. Striking examples of virtual narrative are computer games, each of which has its own unique chronotope. As part of a virtual narrative, spatial and temporal structures of particular specificity undergo changes in some aspects by reproducing spatial and temporal structures of the real world, in other respects – reconfigure them. The article shows that the virtual narrative chronotope is a developing phenomenon, which is associated with other phenomena of virtual reality, such as the phenomenon of “immersion.” Thanks to the modern development of technologies, people can be “pulled” from the modern chronotope and “immersed” in the virtual narrative chronotope. The article describes the factors which influence this phenomenon. The author concludes that the virtual narrative chronotope is structurally connected to the global chronotope and exists thanks to information computer technologies and man. |
