Annotation The article deals with the Yakut historical folklore. The article studies out the formation of historical genre in the Yakut folklore within the historical panorama from the 17th till the 20th century. The genre is closely concerned with everyday life, historical and cultural events of Yakutia that reflects in usage of concrete episodes and real personages of Yakut history in folklore stories. However this genre has not been studies systematically till present and there is some lacks of interpretations of the folklore materials. That is why historical genre is a very important source of reconstruction of history. The link between this form of literature work and folklore shows in oral nature of the translation. The most popular themes of historical genre are the following: the legends about ancestors, the development of north-eastern Siberia territory, the class struggle of the poor against the tyranny of the rich, the episodes of civil war are devoted to the important milestones in the Yakut history. The historical legends mostly tell about the history of people more or less in accurate way because being orally presented they could vary from the original version. Vagueness of some plotlines, ethnical genesis of personages with Turkic or Mongol roots, correlation of real historical events requires involment of supplementary historical materials and intensification of interdisciplinary analysis.
Key words folklore, historical genre, Yakuts’ history, source study, folk tales and legends
