Annotation The article examines the religious situation in Mongolia after the beginning of democratic changes of the late 80s – the first decade of the last century. It includes profiles of the major changes that have occurred both in Mongolian society and within religious communities. Main features of this period are the revival of all traditional religions and beliefs, and the emergence of new religions. The reasons for the rapid increase of religiosity of the population, the emergence of public religious organizations that contributed to the broad construction of Buddhist monasteries and various religious objects are looked upon. The statistical data of the State statistics Committee of Mongolia and sociological research that shows the growth in the number of monasteries and religious buildings year-by-year, religiosity of different ethnic groups of population of Mongolia in percentage are of particular interest. The results revealed that the largest percentage of believers among ethnic groups make up the Mongolian Kazakhs, and quantitatively – Buddhist believers. The peculiarities of the restoration of traditional religions – Buddhism, shamanism, as well as penetration and distribution of new for Mongolia religions and beliefs, mainly different currents of Christianity are also considered.
