Annotation This article deals with the structure and meaning of the topicality of the theme of pedagogic studies. The topicality of the theme is proposed as a procedure based on the structure including social, practical, and scientific aspects. Social topicality provides social meaning of the research theme, i.e. its importance for a society, its connection with the past and the future, pedagogy, and sociocultural context. The article describes the procedure of topicality reasoning and gives the samples of the correct methodological appearance of this point of studies on the basis of dissertation works’ materials. Reasoning of scientific meaning of the research topicality is especially focused on. Analysis shows that some researchers prefer listing scientists’ names of different historic periods. In author’s opinion, the list of names should include only those researchers who have made a great contribution to the study of the problems of the research, whose works have been analyzed by the author of dissertation research.
