Annotation The paper considers a problem of studying educational literature as a product of pedagogical culture. It focuses on person-centered (personality development) education including the categories of subjective experience and subjective position. The implementation of these categories is exemplified by the textbooks of the 1920s. This period of time is characterized by the use of the reformatory pedagogy ideas in the history of the Soviet education, including the ideas associated with the creation of educational materials for schools. The authors analyze workbooks, “loose-leaf” textbooks, magazine-style textbooks, newspaper-style textbooks created in line with the integrated programs of the State Academic Council. The study shows that the content of the 1920s textbooks is associated with the sociocultural values focused on the accumulation and realization of subjective experience in educational activities.The ideas presented suggest that educational literature can be regarded as a cultural product of its era.
