Annotation The article presents the results of the empirical analysis performed to study self-realization of teachers who live and work in complicated conditions of living environment, namely in the town of Chita, Zabaikalsky Krai. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the importance of personality’s self-realization for the social and individual development. The regional aspects of environment may influence the successfulness of man’s self-realization. The authors of the article define the notions of “living environment” and “complicated living environment”. Severe weather and climate conditions, unfavorable ecology and reduced indices of social and economic development of the region are the factors which complicate the living environment in the Zabaikalsky Krai. The methodology of the study is the subjectaction approach to the analysis of psychic phenomena. The number of teachers involved in the study is 184. The authors tested the level of their self-realization with the help of Self-Realization Test (SRT) and sense of life indicators received from the Life Situations Orientation Test (LSOT). Most teachers under study get high and middle self-realization levels. However, 25 % of the teachers from the sample study can reach only the low self-realization level. The data factorization helps to show the role of professionally important teachers’ character features – social intelligence, internality and others. The authors stress the importance of the teachers’ meaning of life and activity, value orientations in their self-realization, especially in the complicated conditions of the living environment.
