Annotation In the article the agrarian movement in the West Trans-Baikal (modern Republic of Buryatia), one of the most important of all the aspects of social and political life of Russia at the beginning of XX century that preceded revolution of 1905–1907 and the events of 1917, is examined. The problems of administrative and agrarian reforms that have sharpened social contradictions and made worse the aboriginal people’s life, are examined. The important role of social and political thought and workers’ and national movement in the struggle for the land is shown as well
