Annotation The article highlights the issues of transformation of traditional food of the Evens and the Evenki in Yakutia. It notes that the traditional meat-fish model of food has played an important role in the Tungus life-support since the earliest times. It shows that the change in the system of food of the Northern peoples took place at the expense of improving the technology of housekeeping; through increasing the economic and ethno-cultural contacts. The socio-economic reforms which started from the 1980s played an important role in the transformation of the culture of food. Furthermore, it notes that the natural and ecological change have a negative role in the traditional food of the Northern peoples. The article emphasizes that the level of preservation of traditional layer of food is comparatively strong among the Tungus who continue to be engaged in traditional economic activities and lead a nomadic life and that is so in spite of the present-day confusion and use of cuisine of various peoples in Tungus food.
