Annotation In recent years, Russian researchers have been paying more and more attention to the Hulun-Buir aimak, especially to the ethnic minorities of this region. Like throughout China, there have recently been dramatic changes in the political and cultural spheres. The period of the “cultural revolution” stands out in particular. During this period, there was a huge damage to the culture and religion of the Hulunbuir national minorities. There are no special works on this issue among foreign researchers; therefore, the problem of studying the period of the “cultural revolution” in this region can be classified as a new line of historical research. The object of the research is foreign historiography of this issue. The works are divided into three groups: publications covering the events of the “cultural revolution” in Inner Mongolia; publications devoted to national minorities of Hulunbuir; sources interpreting eyewitness memories. Particular attention is paid to articles and monographs studied during a research trip to the urban district of Hulunbuir ARIM PRC in November 2018. The author notes that some Chinese publications, as well as works in English, generally describe in detail the political situation and the situation in ARM. Therefore, this problem requires the need for further work on the search and analysis of Chinese and other foreign sources, as well as the reconstruction of the true picture of the events of the “cultural revolution” in the Chinese border region of Hulunbuir.
