Annotation	The article examines the impact of the energy factor on the process of changing the quality of life and reveals the essence of the energy problem in the modern world. The author substantiates the need to study the energy problem and the problems of transition to alternative (renewable) energy sources, due to the fact that the consequences of such a transition are quite controversial and poorly studied. The article puts forward the question about the development of alternative energy in a megapolis. It studies the negative impact of the energy sector on the environment, concludes that the impact of the energy factor can have a negative impact on the quality of life (especially in megapolises) and offers a solution to the problem through the introduction of alternative energy sources.
