Annotation The article discusses traditional Chinese and Mongolian musical instruments and reveals similarities among different instruments. This similarity is the result of constant cultural contacts and cultural diffusion between neighbouring countries. The research discloses the issue of new cultural forms in which traditional instrumental music exists today. These forms are due to the tendency of convergence of traditional folk culture with some forms of academic art emerging under the influence of European professional music practice. Further changes in cultural forms will depend on cultural development in the context of media space. The analysis of the contemporary process of traditional instrumental culture development allows identifying some specific features of cultural dynamics.
