Annotation Artistic particularities of one of the genres of the spiritual literature Moslem folks – Mavlid are considered in the article. Mavlid as a religious, artistic, poetical production is a synthetical phenomenon. It absorbs the qualities and signs of many spiritual and secular genres: encomium, ode, hymn, hagiographic poems. The peculiarities of the given genre in Kumyk spiritual literature are revealed in the article. The research results show that there are one plot Mavlids which narrate certain moments of the envoy’s life and multiplot ones which give the description of nearly all the facts of his life. The author analyses the problems reflected in spiritual poetry of the Kumyks which are not purely literary, but also have a great general cultural importance. The article fills in the gap existing in literature studies; it is one of the first attempts in research of the given problem being of great scientific, methodological importance. It will be helpful in the analysis of the national works of other Daghestani and North Caucasian peoples.
