Annotation The paper addresses principles of colour design in urban environment, offered in the first third of the twentieth century by the architect B. Taut. The description of colouring in German settlements Reform, Falkenberg, Shillerpark, Britz designed by B. Taut is given. The architect’s concept of a coloured Magdeburg is characterized. Social and political background of the colour environment designed and realized by B. Taut is considered.
