Annotation The article concentrates on the importance of a comprehensive study of the problem of personality formation in connection with the socio-economic relevance of innovation development in all spheres of society. It reveals negative tendencies in education interfering with the problem solving, emphasizes the necessity to appeal to the philosophical and pedagogical thought of the second half of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century when the religious-value concept of personality formation was established in the context of culture ideas development. The article reveals the value content of the Christian ideal of man, analyzes the main mechanisms of its implementation, describes the philosophical and methodological positions concerning the problem of personality formation. The article also summarizes the views of Russian educators of the period studied on cultural conformity character of the educational process at school promoting the formation of creative spiritual individuality. In conclusion, the author suggests some basic conceptual ideas on solving the problem of personality formation. The article is for a wide range of researchers, graduate and undergraduate students involved in the study of the stated problem.
