Annotation Based on the documents of the state archive of the Russian Federation, the article analyzes one of the components of the religious process – the rite of the registered religious organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church in the territory of the Chita region in the second half of the 1960s – the mid 1980s. The research methodology is based on the fundamental principles of historical science-objectivity and historicism using a special comparative historical method as well as the method of quantitative data analysis. There have been no scientific publications on the problems yet. The sources give a relatively comprehensive statistics on the number and types of ongoing rituals. It is presented in the reports of the Council of religious Affairs of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Analysis of documents suggests a change in the number of rites of full-time and part-time for almost two decades. The ritual side gives a partial idea of the religious situation in the Chita region in the period under review. At the same time, the article assumes that there probably existed a significant number of unregistered Orthodox religious communities in the region, within which ritual activities could be carried out. We conclude that despite rather active anti-religious policy of the authorities in the Chita region in the 1960s-1980s, Orthodoxy and some other religious teachings found their development. At the same time, the present data do not allow us to characterize the rites of religious communities in the region to the full. This determines the need for further work with sources.
