Education
In 1983 she graduated from the Department of Ethnography and Anthropology of the Faculty of History of the Leningrad State University, and is one of the first graduates of the specialized Department of Ethnography in Yakutia.
1983-1987 studied at the graduate school of the Institute of Ethnography and Anthropology (Kunstkamera) (St. Petersburg), specialty 07.00.07 – ethnology, ethnography, anthropology (supervisor – Doctor of Historical Sciences D.G. Savinov). In 1987 she successfully defended her dissertation work dedicated to the main holiday of the Yakut tradition Ysyakh.
In 1999, E.N. Romanova defended her doctoral thesis “Mythology and ritual in the Yakut tradition.”
Research interests
Ethnology, mythology and ritual of indigenous peoples of Siberia and the North, semiotics, symbolical anthropology, ethnography, cultural anthropology.
Scientific activity
E.N. Romanova is a representative of the Siberian semiotics school.
Titles and awards
