Annotation The aim of this paper is to present the semantic and functional specificity of the Bulgarian pronominal clitics. An object of research is mainly their use with verbs because of the cases of homonymy and the lack of unanimity in linguistic literature about their morphological and functional status, too. Our goal is to distinguish their morphological and functional status in different uses. The semantic-syntactical approach towards all uses of reflexive and non-reflexive clitics is applied. On the basis of their semantic specialization or because of loss of such specialization the following differentiation is made: pronouns, on the one hand, and particles with word-forming, word-building, modal and pragmatic function, on the other hand.
Key words pronominal clitics, semantic specificity of clitics, morphological status, functions of clitics
