Annotation This article presents the results of a study devoted to the peculiarities of sociocultural design of ethnocultural activities with the aim of preserving cultural heritage and updating traditional values in the Aginsky Buryat Okrug. Since the end of the twentieth century, processes of revival of ethnic culture have begun in the district, social practices have been developing, the initiators of which are informal social groups. In this regard, it is necessary to analyze the value core of Buryat culture, actualized in these social practices. The study was conducted using methods of participant observation, content analysis of implemented social practices, as well as analysis of scientific literature on the topic of sociocultural design and Buryat cultural values. The social practices implemented in the Aginsky Buryat Okrug are considered. The study revealed that in the Aginsky Buryat Okrug, the subjects initiating innovative social practices aimed at updating and reviving the cultural core of the people are tribal communities and social peers. These practices, which arose among the people, are the basis for the creation and implementation of social projects of government bodies and institutions of the social sphere, culture and education. Thus, the principle of the “critical threshold of modification” observed, thanks to which the values that constitute the actual core of culture become the object of sociocultural design. Sociocultural design at the present stage actualizes the values of the native language, continuity of the family and clan community, love for the native land, strengthening friendly ties with fellow citizens and peers during the implementation of socially significant practices.
