Annotation The given article analyzes the position of the leading Turkish media on the Crimea and Sevastopol’s entering into the Russian Federation with the rights of the Russian Federation subject. Turkish media reflected the duality of the position and political inconsistency of Turkey relating to the events in Ukraine and the Crimea. On the one hand, Turkey as a NATO member and a candidate for European Union voted at the UN General Assembly for the anti-Russian resolution “The territorial integrity of Ukraine”, on the other hand – according to Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Mevlut Chavushoglu (tr.: Mevlüt Cavuşoğlu), the West in Ukraine makes a mistake. Mevlut Chavushoglu blamed the EU for inciting civil war in Ukraine. Since the political functions of the media, inter alia, consist in the control of governments and stake holders of political activity, their role becomes very important. Unfortunately, the media did not take a principled stand towards to the Crimea and Sevastopol’s joining to Russia, which reduced their positive impact on the running processes. Such political inconsistency of Turkey also affected the content of publications of the leading Turkish media and news agencies.
