Annotation	Тhe article presents a structural analysis of personal resources in the period of youth and considers value-semantic resources, mechanisms of psychological protection, social intelligence and their relationships. Personal resources in the period of youth are examined in the light of age psychological new features of this period: the development of self-consciousness, the formation of identity and personal selfdetermination. The paper shows the special significance of social intelligence as a personal characteristic that is interconnected with the value-semantic and instrumental resources of the person and establishes a direct link of the social intelligence level with life meaning orientations. It presents different tendencies of correlating social intelligence, significant values and psychological protection mechanisms depending on the level of social intelligence. The development of social intelligence in the period of youth is presented as an important condition for enhancing personality resources to overcome life obstacles.
